Endodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with the morphology, physiology, and pathology of the human dental pulp and periradicular tissues. Its study and practice encompass the basic and clinical sciences including the biology of the normal pulp and the etiology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases. The scope of endodontics includes the differential diagnosis and treatment of oral pains of pulpal and/or periapical origin; vital pulp therapy such as pulp capping and pulpotomy; nonsurgical treatment of root canal systems; selective surgical removal of pathological tissues resulting from pulpal pathosis; intentional replantation and replantation of avulsed teeth; surgical removal of tooth structure such as in root-end resection, hemisection, and root resection; endodontic implants; bleaching of discolored dentin and enamel (teeth); retreatment of teeth previously treated endodontically; and treatment procedures related to coronal restorations by means of post and/or cores involving the root canal space.

Born in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Malagise graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology while pursuing his interests in biomedical research. He is an Ivy League trained dentist, receiving his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree in 2018 from the University of Pennsylvania with Honors in Clinical Dentistry. Shortly after finishing his dental degree, he initiated his specialty training in Endodontics at Texas A&M University College of Dental Medicine, graduating with his Specialty Certificate in Endodontics in September of 2020.

Remaining up to date in his field, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Texas Dental Association, the Dallas County Dental Society, and the DFW Endodontic Society.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Malagise is a published author in the Journal of Endodontics focusing his research on postoperative dental pain,  has been the recipient of both Academic and Clinical Honors in 2018 by Penn Dental School, The Award for Excellence in Clinical Radiology in 2018 by Penn Dental School, Phi Beta Kappa Exceptional Academic Achievement in 2012 by the University of Pittsburgh, The Dean’s Scholarship in 2014 by Penn Dental School, The William Goldman Foundation Scholarship in 2015 by Penn Dental School, Beaver Rotary Club Student of the Year in 2008, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars in 2009 by the University of Pittsburgh, and Outside the Classroom Curriculum Honorary Society in 2012 by the University of Pittsburgh.

Proud to call Texas his new home, he has enjoyed indulging in all the outdoor leisure activities that Texas has to offer. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and generally being outdoors enjoying all that Mother Nature has to offer.
