Born and raised in Nigeria, Godwin received a Higher Education Diploma in Civil Engineering in 1983 from Plateau State Polytechnic in B/Ladi, Nigeria. He then obtained a postgraduate diploma in technical education from the University of Jos in 1989. After relocating to the United States, he received an Associate of Arts degree in Culture, Science and Technology from the Community College of Philadelphia in 2007, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from La Salle University in 2010, and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Walden University in 2018. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Aspen University, with an expected graduation date in 2023. 

Godwin is a Family Nurse Practitioner – Certified, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, and a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner.
