For his future move, Us President-elect Joe Biden has announced his wish to distribute $2000 ‘stimulus checks’ to the American residents. According to him, the current COVID-19 relief package of $600 is failing to sustain the lives of the American people.

Last week he made it clear that the $600 relief payment is not enough to pay rent and buy food for the countrymen. He called it ‘down payment’. He also promised that the $2000 checks will be given to the people if his party gets control of both the houses of Congress.

The Democrats have the majority in the Senate and in the House of Representatives. Joe Bidden is scheduled to be sworn in as the 46th President of the country on 20th January 2021. The former vice president is probably going to announce another stimulus package later this month.

On Sunday Bidden expressed his concern for the $600 package. He said it was not enough and people will be in dilemma to ‘choose between paying rent or putting food on the table.’ He said that the $2000 package is necessary to help people sustain themselves.

The current president Donald Trump has also talked about a $2000 package. The bill was also passed in the House of Representatives in December. But it was then stopped by the Republicans. They had a majority in the Upper Chambers at that time.

The demand for $2000 checks for the Americans was also made by two Indian-American lawmakers, Congressman Ro Khanna and Pramila Jayapal.

Biden will be giving more details about the relief package very soon. He has promised to make the process quicker to provide the Americans with the relief payment of $2000.

Biden took the decision of the financial assistant package that includes the $2000 stimulus checks after reviewing the shocking report on jobs in December, which showed a huge downfall in the employment in the restaurant industry.

A $900 billion relief bill was signed by President Donald Trump only last month. It consisted of unemployment benefits. The benefits are extended till mid-March. This timeframe is a deadline for lawmakers who need to come up with a new and fresh next package.
