The inspirational effort by Indian pacers Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj in adverse circumstances has stolen the hearts of millions of Indians. India is set a challenging target of 328to beat the Australians. The final day of the Border Gavaskar trophy is headed for an exciting finish in the fourth test.

The target of 328 is very tricky and it will require quite some doing. The Indian batsman should have a fair idea of whether to take up the challenge by lunch on the last and final day, that is Tuesday. The match is set for an exhilarating finish after Thakur and Siraj shared nine wickets between them and dismissed the mighty Australians for only 294 in the second innings.

Siraj has given a fantastic performance taking 5 wickets for 73 runs and bowled 5 maiden overs. It is his first five-wicket haul but he was unable to prevent the Australians who went on to post an imposing target for their team. The Australians batted for 75.5 overs while batting in the second innings.

India were four for no loss at stumps and they have the unbeaten opening pair of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma in the crease.

236 is the highest score that is chased down at the Gabba and it happened quite a long time back seven decades ago. This is quite an indication that the Australian grounds can be easily equated with Fort Knox. Since 1988, the home team did not lose a game at this venue.

It was a dream test match for Thakur as he also managed to get great figures of 4 for 61 and he took seven wickets in the entire match. The best part of the match was that he expressed joy when he took the catch of Siraj’s bowling that helped him fetch the coveted landmark of five-for.

The scuffed red kookaburra was showed by Siraj to the 957 people in the stands who acknowledged his effort as it happened on the first working day of the week. His partner in crime gave him the most generous applause as he clapped with gusto by walking just a foot behind him.

This kind of day is eagerly awaited by Test match aficionados as everyone is kept on the edge of their seats with the ebbs and flows.

The possibility of rain and changing weather has added to the excitement and the contours of the facial expression by Tim Paine have exhibited despair and relief in equal measures.

Paine is hailed to be the enforcer among the two captains but this particular Indian team has surprised its detractors and this is series has become one of the finest ones that are played in recent times.

There is going to be a winner if the weather gods do not play to be the boss but there will be no losers as this Indian team soldiers on without complaints.
