Cannabidol has a metabolite called 7-OH-CBD. This metabolite has been proven, in clinical trials, to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans. Cannabidiol acts on the host gene receptors after the initial infection of Covid-19 or SARS-CoV-2. It intercepts the viral signaling pathways.

While Cannabidiol may not prevent you from being infected with Covid-19, it may work to protect you from a life-threatening case of Covid-19. Cannabidiol has been proven to slow the body’s response to pain, inflammation, and anxiety. It can work in this exact same way to reduce the chance of a cytokine storm.

This occurs when an infection triggers the body to flood the bloodstream with cytokines. In the case of severe Covid-19, the lungs are filled with fluid after the body produces inflammatory cytokines.

In clinical trials, Cannabidiol blocked the viral replication after the virus entered the cells.
