She is looking forward to working in an academic center, and is interested in clinical informatics and clinical technology to optimize patient care.

Back in the early days of her academic career, she graduated from Stanford University, and received her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology from the Oregon Health and Sciences University.

Subsequently, Dr. Kernberg chose the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program at the Washington University School of Medicine because of the outstanding clinical training, academic atmosphere, and excellence in research. She is currently creating a cesarean section bundle in hopes of lower postoperative surgical site infections.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).

A native of San Francisco, Dr. Kernberg currently lives with her partner and two cats. She says that St. Louis is a great place to explore and discover new restaurants. She enjoys the many free activities the city has to offer, including the Zoo, social gatherings at baseball games, and celebratory events like Garden Glow at the Botanical gardens. She also enjoys knitting, cooking, and running.
