Shantae 5 Officially Comes Out with a Proper Title and It Looks Like 7 Is Their Lucky Integer

It is no old news that Shantae as a game holds a sentimental soft corner for all the fanatics out there. It all started back in the Game Boy Color era when Shantae as the half-genie hero made her way across the land with her eccentricity and valiance conquering the obstacles of squids and pirates and any hindrance that could potentially halt her voyage.

Over the years, the entire game series of Shantae has had creative collaborations with Inti Creates and WayForward as a flagship series that gave it various distinct structures to its overall presentation. The game’s latest iteration included an animated trailer created by Japanese animation studio hub Studio Trigger who was also the mind behind Kill la Kill. Before the questions start pouring in, Shantae does not have any design or functional similarity with Senketsu. However, with the hype going on around the game’s release date and storyline, one thing is for sure, Shantae 5 gets a proper title by the name Shantae and the Seven Sirens.

With the history of WayForward, the storyline of Shantae 5 also has its whimsicalities. This version will have the protagonist adopting and honing new magic and dance moves, utilize instantaneous transformations through Fusion Magic that will allow her to travel through the non-linearity of various interconnected worlds and tropical paradise that have hidden secrets of their own. It is a quest so to speak, where Shantae along with her friends and other half-genies who she meets on her journey collectively rectifies all the wrongdoings of the world.

The new version also includes a collectible card system, a surprise for the players that work as an exponential power inducer for Shantae’s character. There has been no official statement issued by WayForward regarding the same but has hinted that the player will have the pass to customize Shantae’s power instincts as per their gaming styles.

Shantae’s series has always been known for their Metroidvania unconventionality where the character journeys occur in a non-linear thematic platform and hence the freedom of subjective game plays is unlimited. Shantae and the Seven Sirens are also trading the same path of nonlinearity travel through worlds that are intermittently connected and dotted with dungeons, battles, evil honchos, and other hurdles.

The game is still in its final stage of development and design bit WayForward is strategically sparking the fire of anticipation by throwing unprecedented updates now and then, faster than what the fan base can fathom. The first official news of the game coming to the floors came out back in March 2019 and the progress that it has made in this short time is commendable, given the fact that WayForward already has other major line-ups up their sleeves.

Not much is known about the game’s release date or price for that matter. All we know is that it is going to release on PlayStation4, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One. Till the glory day becomes a reality, keep your gamer jive on and keep playing hard.
