Danielle Thornton was working with Citibank for nine years. And she was waiting for her children when she learned that she has to choose between the COVID19 vaccine and unemployment after the vaccine became mandatory for various companies.

She said that she and her husband had several conversations about this subject after the US introduced vaccine mandates. And even when she received the email that she would lose her job if she don’t opt for the inoculation. They both came to the same conclusion, ‘But ultimately we decided that our freedom was more important than a paycheque.’

Thousands of Americans are choosing to lose their jobs rather than getting a COVID 19 vaccine, though they represent a small minority.

At Citibank, 99 percent of their 6,500 employees have obeyed the rule. This is the best way suggested by experts to overcome this pandemic or at least prevent the infection.

But after mandating jabs America thought that 25 percent of the population would be motivated to vaccinate themselves but the scenario became something else. The intention behind this step failed, as many quit their jobs for intervening in their personal choices and freedom.

This month, the Supreme Court rejected a rule from President Joe Biden, which says Americans at workplaces would reserve some of their expenses for vaccinating their staff; provide them with masks, and weekly test of at least 100 employees.

Even the Judges of the nation’s top court identify this regulation as ‘a significant encroachment’ on the lives of a million workers. But there are various countries where a rule like this was appreciated with wide arms.

Though the courts were a little more accepting the mass disapproval of this rule remained very high. About 55 percent of the workers are supporting the mandates but some of the rest are opposing this rule with utmost resistance.

There are over 9,000 city workers who are on leave because of these vaccine mandates. Even hospitals also have lost some of their stuff due to this. A 54 years old nurse, who has dedicated 30 years of her life as a neonatal nurse, and she was stopped because of this rule, said, ‘I don’t believe it’s the government’s place to dictate things that are between a human being and their creator’.

And she is now reinventing herself as an activist, along with an organization that has 26,000 people who want to stand strong against these medical mandates. She said, ‘There was no second thought. What there has been is grieving’.

‘I truly care about my patients, so being restricted by a government entity to say, ‘You no longer have a place here’ – that’s hard’ she added that as well.

Some companies that have vaccine mandates have successfully convinced most of their staff to get inoculated.

At food manufacturer, Tyson Foods said ‘single most effective thing we can do to protect our team members’ after some 60,000 people signed up for this.
