If the ongoing pandemic situation did not give you enough reasons to mourn, QuakeCon has certainly some news for you that would just add fuel to the process. As reports were circulating about the 25th anniversary of QuakeCon to be held this year that brought together fans of every field to bombard the snot out of each other and also, about which a quarter of a century has been marked since the convention had started just got cancelled.

QuakeCon Has Been Officially Cancelled Due To COVID-19, Despite Being Scheduled For August. With this news embarking, QuakeCon becomes one of the furthest conventions in time that have been cancelled the reason for which is not entirely COVID-19. It seems that id Software and Bethesda just can’t compromise with their personnel given the current situation in order to meet with everyone and get the ball rolling in time for the QuakeCon.

Conventions, as we know are a matter of great fuss for all the organizers as it’s a task that actually goes away without being given any credit by the vast majority of the attendees. Having said, it completely makes no sense for a person going to a convention just with the thought of marveling at its logistical prowess. For conducting a convention, an organizer ahs to lock down a specific location, arrange food and various other vendors for merchandise, and then get all of that fixed before they could even start to send out the save the dates to all the prospective attendees.

Although it is a smart move to cancel the plan given the horrifying situation, it still is quite a harsh cancellation for many fans out there who were eagerly looking forward to the massive 25th birthday celebration.

However, fans have been hugely supporting the companies, id, and Bethesda for their decision even though they had already marked the date on their calendars. The spectacular event was supposed to be hosted in Dallas, Texas this year and had been successfully cultured for over the quarter if a century and had also been nourished overtime to emerge as a massive festival of gaming.

It is still not clear about what the two companies id Software and Bethesda have in store for the coming year and it takes quite a stroll on their planning as they were hoping to celebrate the grand gaming festival in a few month’s time.

Fans can, however, regain their hopes by considering the fact that 2021’s QuakeCon would still be the 25th anniversary of the QuakeCon. Moreover, many have already started thinking that this delay could actually give some more time to both id Software and Bethesda to start working on an actual Quake sequel for which many gamers have been holding their breath for instead of spending the time to celebrate the various dysfunctional Bethesda titles.
