The introduction of the Mass Effect franchise coming on Steam was perhaps too good to be true with every player celebrating, as the multiple titles were finally grouped under one roof. As it happened that the trilogy was united yet once again on the PC platform of Steam. Everything was going smoothly until the players tried to dig deep into those games.

One of the blunders was that Battlefield was packaged with the wrong PunkBuster version which means that thousands of players got kicked out time and again until they somehow managed to deduce that all they needed to do was to visit PB’s archaic site and download a new package that would finally let them play the game.

This, however, isn’t the end of the story several Steam users have been visiting the Electronic Art’s help section to ask about the massive frame drops that were occurring at all stages during a Steam playthrough of Mass Effect 3.

In response to which an EA representative stated that since the title works on Origin faultlessly, which is yet not on Steam, which implies that the problem lies with Steam to come up with an appropriate solution to this.

Mass Effect 3 On Steam Is Suffering From Massive Frame Drops As Companies Point To Each Other. The problem however seems to lie within the Origin client that constantly runs in the background and even attempts to run the title without the Origin wrapper, resulting in Origin booting the wrapper in tandem with the title. As it seems that there is currently no solution to this issue, and both the companies are busy pointing fingers at each other affirming that the problem lies with them.

However, this is certainly not the first time that Origin’s platform has given rise to such issues, as Dragon Age: Inquisition would take exponentially longer to load scenes if the player would have disabled the Origin in-game.

This whole situation is quite unfortunate as Mass Effect 3 which is the final chapter of the trilogy has been widely accepted by the fans of the genre, after the mess Mass Effect Andromeda that had further resulted in the series turning into a meme-generator with broken animations and evident story walking in tandem towards discontinuance.

Fans have been repeatedly requesting the Electronic Arts to simply remove the Origin wrapper completely, as it is resulting in the emergence of more issues than it is possibly solving.

As it happened that an EA representative had temporarily stepped forward into the thread to request dxdiag files from the players that are experiencing massive drops, a move that seemed to be puzzling, as the all the drops point to the Origin wrapper itself rather than the drivers or hardware compatibility.

The Mass Effect 3 currently places itself on Steam with having mixed reviews that include 47% recommending the title to others. It also showed that the majority of the recommendations have less than half an hour of play time, while the vast majority of negative reviews have over an hour.

Apart from this, it is also worth noting that the Mass Effect 3 faced constant issues with frame rate both on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 when it was launched previously.

The Electronic Arts, if somehow they manage to get a sight on the problem as it stands now, can likely hope that they can Deux ex the entire problem, precisely the way they did with the ending. However, the last time they did it, had left everyone’s mouth in a bad taste, and this time it likely won’t fare any better.
