Owen Power Is Setting A New Record At The World Junior Men’s Hockey Championship

The Canadian hockey player Owen Power is standing out among all the players by showing his extraordinary skills.

This 19-year-old player from Mississauga played at world junior men’s hockey in the United States.

Power is now all set to head to the University of Michigan.

He was invited to the team last year. People got to see him play in the men’s world championship in June when Canada won gold in Lativa.

In 2022, under 20 world men’s championship this player hat tricked in his first game and became the first defenceman to score three goals in one match. He needs two more goals to be pronounced as a most scored defenceman of the championship.

If he manages to do so, he will be breaking the record of the current Ottawa Senator blue-liner Thomas Chabot scoring four goals in Montreal in 2017.

Cameron believes the fact that because this defenceman played box lacrosse all the years of growing up, that made him this much skilled in his game. And Power agrees with this a said that it helped enormously in his games because it has helped him with the coordination of hand and eye which is very important.

By observing this sport it is obvious to understand that how the sportsman should be agile to play this game.

The player says that he liked lacrosse more than hockey in his childhood. And he has won three national lacrosse championships in Ontario at the peewee and bantam levels.

Owen says, ‘I think that was just because I was better at lacrosse, but as I got older, I kind of fell more in love with hockey than lacrosse’.

His siblings are also in the same field. His elder sister Emily plays lacrosse for the University of Guelph and his younger brother is also in sport.

In the game with Russia power named Canada’s player of the game in an overtime quarterfinal, and in that match Canada won against Russia.

Power says that playing in the championship helped him to get more comfortable playing on the ice. Because of this, the play in Michigan became easier for him.

Everyone is ready for upcoming matches. The quarterfinal and semifinals are on January 2nd and January 4th.

But due to the spread of Covid-19, the organizers are concerned about the number of audiences in the match.
