Ubisoft’s name has come up quite a few times in the news for the shocking controversies based on the complaints of some of their employees. It caught fire when the news media was flooded with statements that confirmed the mischievous events that took place in its workplace. It has been in focus due to the unhealthy work culture that has encouraged sexual harassment and gender inequity among peers. Ubisoft Addresses Toxic Work Culture, Promising Company Changes To Help Promote A Healthier Workplace.

The studio is trying its best to revamp its reputation after facing some serious accusations. In June 2020, the company received critical backlashes from the courageous women in the gaming industry. They shared the daunting experiences they had when they were a part of the same toxic work culture. They briefly talked about the stories of being sexually assaulted at their workplace, precisely at Ubisoft.

Though, Ubisoft has not been sitting still when the whole world has started to question them. Ubisoft has come forward with a statement to the gaming outlet PCgamer where they showed how sorry they are. They are deeply concerned by these accusations and they are monitoring the whole situation. Allegation of abuse will not be taken lightly by the company. They are taking immediate and legitimate steps to prevent the same act from happening again.

A myriad of stories with the same conclusion stormed social media since June this year. Such complaints in uncountable numbers have created huge pressure on Ubisoft. Now they are bound to take these accusations seriously and show the world that they care about the victims by respecting their feelings for going through such horrible episodes.

PCgamer tweeted that Ubisoft CEO has promised ‘structural shift’ to address workplace toxicity with a verified link to the story.

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, has given a public statement about the whole heart-racking situation. He has issued a plan to brush off the toxic environment of work and problematic work culture that became prevalent in the company after a dozen of events. While he was talking about toxicity, he continued that no one should feel harassed or disrespected at work. He is against all sorts of inappropriate behaviors within the working premise. Things like sexual harassment or disrespect based on gender discrimination cannot be tolerated in holistic work culture. He addressed to the people of the organization who stood up against the barbarism and supported colleagues, and said that they were heard and actions would be taken immediately. They helped the organization to create a better example with the scope of imparting necessary changes from the recent experience.

Guillemot briefly discussed the important changes that need to take place and suggested to bring the former project’s director Lidwine Sauer as a Head of Workplace Culture. Sauer will take care of every aspect that can cause trouble to its colleagues and get rid of the toxic nature of the work culture truly. With his power to take charge of the situation, he will try his best to help and make an incredible change.

The accused people will be investigated properly to know the truth of the complaints. CEO of Ubisoft asked the public to be patient so that the police would do their investigation accurately and bring justice to the sufferers. The investigation will take ample time to give out a conclusion and find who are actually guilty.

It is true that Ubisoft has faced harsh slamming for such intolerable acts taking place at their office, though it is not the only office that has toxic work culture. Dozen upon dozen cases of sexual harassment and gender oppression happen every day at different organizations across the globe. All these companies should reframe new policies and take measures against such evil choices. The number of people revealing their bad experiences about the toxicity and sexual abuse is only increasing and the companies cannot shake the liabilities of the shoulder now.
