The franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are considering as a whole in putting up their support staff and players in the various resorts in UAE instead of the general norm of outing up at the five-star rooms during the tournament in UAE for this year’s edition. This has been decided so that they can avoid contracting the dangerous novel coronavirus through shared ducts of air-conditioning.

Some of the franchises like the Sunrisers Hyderabad, are already in tough with the golf resorts and talks are going on after some of the players have expressed concerns and apprehensions about staying in five-star hotels that are pretty much crowded.

Meanwhile, the franchises of Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are very much likely to set up a camp in Abu Dhabi, which is considered to be more secluded in comparison to other venues. Mumbai Indians have even considered the fact to rent an entire complex for apartments, according to news received from sources.

There have been some studies that have established the fact that the virus in all possibilities can spread through the various ducts of buildings that are fully and centrally air-conditioned. Sources from the IPL have said that there has been a lot of fear that even if a particular wing of the hotels is reserved by a team the players may still expose themselves to the virus through the ducts of the air-conditioning.

One of the sources has said that it is not going to be very easy to go for a screening of players in the hotel all the time. Because of the period, we are talking about is more than 60 days that is a couple of months to be exact. All the resorts in the Dubai area are high end. So it is going to be much easier in arranging a single occupancy room.

The general SOPs for BCCI for state teams have said that while staying at the various hotels, the players are going to be isolated from the remaining part of the hotel guests as they will get them segregated in a separate block or different particular floors. The players are going to be kept in rooms of single-occupancy. The hotels occupying the players should also be close to the ground where the particular camps are going to be conducted.

It is very much unlikely that there is going to be much subtraction from all these SOPs for the IPL.

As far as foreign stars are concerned, they want golf activities. It has been learned from some of the top news sources that many of the star performers who are foreign players have already requested to have access to golfing facilities for recreation on off days although as of yet the proposal has not been agreed to by the Indian cricket board (BCCI).

Many players still believe that there is no harm in playing the game of golf for leisure especially for the fact they are put up in the various resorts. The argument in favor of them is that golf is such a sport that is going to be ideal for maintaining social distancing norms. It is quite an interesting fact that Australia and the UK have allowed the players to enjoy golfing activities.

The policy of COVID-replacement of the players has already been reviewed. There is still quite a bit of confusion over the player’s replacement policy in the IPL. Although there is not going to be a cap on the exact number of COVID replacements some concerns are already there about those players who are going to come in. According to a source in BCCI, any one of the players cannot just fly out of the blue and just get a chance to join the team. The replacements cannot be capped by anyone but somehow they have to be monitored. It has been said by one of the sources in BCCI.

They also further added that the guideline of ICC resembles the rule of concussion-replacement but we are going to speak about the entire season over here. There is a possibility that there is going to be a pool of players who are registered from where one could pick up the replacements. It may appear that the franchises are going to come together and will decide upon agreeing on the pool. It could very much also be the players who went unsold in the auctions that took place.
