Rahul Dravid Is Not Extending His Contract as the Head Coach of Team India

India has lost the World Cup against Australia once again that has broken all the India’s heart. The World Cup final was help at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday. In this year World Cup, India has shown its phenomenal performance but even after that, the team couldn’t lift the trophy.

For this year, former cricketer Rahul Dravid was the head coach for team India. After losing the championship, it is coming to know that Dravid is not going to extend his position as a head coach. His contract is now coming to an end to the two-year contract and he is leaving the role as the coach for team India.

As of now, it is coming to know that Dravid will be replaced by his close friend VVS Laxman. Currently, Laxman is the head coach of the second string Indian team. This team is going to battle against Australia in a five match of T20I series. This series is going to start from Thursday in Vizag.

After Dravid, Laxman has the potential to take the responsibility as the head coach. He is also the head of BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. And previously, he was also the interim head coach of team India at the time of T20I series against Ireland. This series took place right before the World Cup.

Currently, from the BCCI, it is coming to know that ‘Laxman has expressed his keenness for the job. During the World Cup, Laxman travelled to Ahmedabad to meet the BCCI’s top bosses in this regard. He’s likely to sign a long-time contract as the Team India coach, and will certainly travel with the team in that capacity for the upcoming tour of South Africa, which will be his first as the full-time India head coach’.

Rahul Dravid was selected as the head coach of team India in November 2021. The contact of it was for two years. And now the World Cup, he is leaving the position as the head coach of team India. A reliable source have said ‘Dravid has communicated to the BCCI that he isn’t keen to continue as a full-time coach. For close to 20 years, he has travelled with the Indian team as a player, and for the past couple of years, he again went through the same grind, which he doesn’t want to undergo. He’s fine with a role at the NCA as the head there (a role he previously served in), which will allow him to stay back in his hometown Bengaluru. Like earlier, he’s fine with coaching the team sporadically, but not again as a full-time coach’.

From another source it is coming to know that ‘He’s in talks with an IPL team for a big two-year contract,” the source revealed. There’s no clarity on whether the other members of the support staff of the Indian team, whose contracts too ended with the World Cup, will continue. VikramRathour was India’s batting coach, Paras Mhambrey was the bowling coach, and T Dilip was the fielding coach’. In addition to that, they have also said ‘They might continue, or Laxman, like any other coach, might want to bring his own set of people in the support staff’.
