Volcano In New Zealand As Five People Are Dead With Eight Missing And There Is No Sign Of Any Life

Jacinda Ardern who is the prime minister of New Zealand has already said that signs of life were not found on the white Island after a volcanic eruption.

According to her, they focused on recovery so that the loved ones are returned once the island can be called safe.

It has been presumed that thirteen people have died, out of those five are confirmed dead and the missing count is still eight on the island.

On Monday, the volcano erupted as the popular attraction was visited by tourists.

There has been a survival of thirteen people as treatment is still received by most of them in the hospital.

The eruption has hit people from the UK, US, Malaysia, China, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand, the police said.

Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister said as unfathomable grief is shared by her for the friends and family of the missing about people who lost their life at this moment of sorrow.

According to her, there has been landing of reconnaissance flights on the island but no traces of life can be seen.

According to the pilot of the helicopter who moved around physically on the island and was just not doing an aerial survey only repeated that for some time and reported that no traces of life can be found, unfortunately.

According to John Tims, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that a criminal investigation would be started by the Police into the injuries and death on whit Island.

The injured and the missing include locals as well as visitors from different countries.

According to the police, there were 47 people in total on the island at the time of the disaster which happened during Monday afternoon concerning the local time.

From Australia there were 24 visitors, the US had nine, New Zealand itself had five, from Germany there were four, China had two and Malaysia had one person.

Identification of the first victim came with Hayden Marshall-Inman who is a tour guide and belongs to Whakatane which is a nearby town, who was named on Facebook by his brother according to New Zealand media.

Tipene Maangi, who is 24 years old and another Kiwi tour guide, has been one of the people who are missing and the media have been told by his family that he was called when he had an off day.

According to Laura Clarke, the UK High Commissioner to New Zealand said that treatment is received by two British women.

It has been said by Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia that among the five confirmed dead, three of them are Australian.

According to Mr. Morrison, the cruise ship was boarded by 24 Australians as they were in the Bay of Plenty while exploring the island when the eruption of the volcano took place. Out of those, 11 of them were unaccounted for and there have been hospitalization of 13 people.

Reporters were told by Mr. Morrison in Sydney that the tragedy was terrible and the horror created by the eruption has interrupted the joy and the great innocence enjoyed by the people at that time has been put to an end.

It has been acknowledged by Ms. Arden the high number of victims are Australians.

She also said that the two countries are very close and they are all devasted because of the devastation that happened and she wanted to acknowledge the people from Australia who unfortunately got caught up in the horrific incident that took place.

Whakaari is also known by the name White Island, is the country’s most active volcano. Despite the fact, the tourist destination is a privately owned island where scenic flights and frequent day tours are available.

In quick successions, two explosions occurred as the volcano erupted on Monday at around 14.11(01.11 GMT) as a thick plume of smoke and ash was send all around.

From one of the live feed shown from the volcano that inside the crater there were several visitors before it went dark because of the stream.

Ms. Ardern also said at that time on the island there were two groups as some of them are close to the site of eruption and some of them were evacuated.

A boat rescued some survivors in the aftermath that followed the explosion but rescue operation cannot be mounted as it is too dangerous according to the police.

Later on, several people were picked up from the island as part of the rescue mission which was carried out by a private helicopter.

Prime Minister Ardren, spoke about this on Tuesday morning by paying tribute to the crews of the helicopter as on Monday they had flown to the island despite the impending danger to bring people out of it.

She also added that the courageous decision was acknowledged by her which was made by those pilots and the first responders as an incredibly brave decision is taken through rescue efforts which happened immediately under extraordinarily dangerous circumstances and it was an attempt made to take people out of it.

Ever since that happened, the emergency services were unable to search the entire area as the dangerous conditions prevailed with plumes of ash and smoke that kept on rising from the volcano on Tuesday.
